There was a survey with a number of questions, ie birth date, last four digits of the social security etc. No names were needed. There were questions concerning where the individual was staying at night and whether they had heat or electricity. They found 1242 persons in Shelters in 2008. In 2007 there was a total of 1123.
There were over 216 in the sample that responded in the Lexington survey that were not in a shelter. They were living in an undisclosed warehouse, barn, vacant house, porch, parked car, truck, bushes near a building etc. (none of these interviewed had heat or electricity)
